Know of some stuff you can individually do to get your child to start latching on and feeding rightly. With me individually I had been through the newborn breastfeeding problems! My baby rejecting to breast feed} was in my opinion a personal hit against me, I felt like my child disliked me or my milk, and for a newly mother, this really is a personal hit. So if this is happening to you, do not worry, this can be fixed with few small steps.
Nurse #1 was very rude. My ignorance was that I did not know about newborn breastfeeding problems. Not helpful at all. Maybe because she was very young and inexperienced and probably did not have children and possibly did not want to educate me and she told me to feed my baby for almost an hour. Do you know what that did to me.
You see, my baby was not eating properly. He was only sucking on half of the nipple, only a little and after couple of minutes he would fall asleep. He was not eating anything, he was just sucking in and after 45 minutes, I was in the real pain, and he was still hungry.
From the long feeding, my nipples were really sore and cracked. I had to switch to pumping with Ameda Breast Pump to suck out the milk and I was feeding the baby now with a bottle. Since he was hungry and of course could not wait, they fed him the baby bottle.
In the mean time, of course to take care of my breast I used verity of cold dry cloths to ease the soreness. So in the evening the nurse number 2 comes around and shows me properly how to do it. In order to breastfeed properly, you need to add the nipple and as well as the portion around the nipple, so the baby can latch on properly and get a full supply of your milk. That Stopped of my newborn breastfeeding problems!
